Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Ok everyone. We got home yesterday from the NorthStar cruise, and somehow I managed to leave the tiny tot with my mother. While I did in fact have a major break down the night before due to anxiety about parting from her for four days, (scared my husband so bad… he thought a family member had passed away), I toughened up and we ended up having a wonderful time. She looked like a completely different baby when we got home! They grow so fast dang it. I asked mom where Lucy was and who this toddler was she was babysitting. I missed her terribly but the hubby time was amazing. I actually had been missing him and I hadn’t even realized it until we had some alone time. What a champ I married.

There were a few things I learned along the way on our venture on the sea…

-High school prom poses really are still in

-Ryan really is that happy all the time. And the warm chocolate melting cake really is that good.

-The breast pump is not fun on vacations… especially in dirty little abandoned warehouses in Mexico. While we were trying to find an electrical outlet, Jason felt the need to explain exactly what it was I needed to do, and furthermore, while explaining actually pulled out the pump and showed it to these two little Mexican guys. Awkward.

-I’ll take a jet ski over a kayak any day. Although, when our kayak tipped over I quite enjoyed watching Jason repeatedly attempt to dive down after his sinking snorkel fins with his life
jacket on.

-Still cannot make up my mind about hypnosis. About half of the people on stage were our people during the hypnotist show, and I was crying from laughing so hard. I’m left baffled and absolutely speechless about it. Wait... hmmm. Just sat here for about 5 minutes thinking about it and no, no... still nothing to say; no conclusion reached.

-It felt way weird singing a cute flirty song to each other as Peter Pan and Captain Hook. Not our best performance at the karaoke bar.

-I was strangely attracted to my husband as Captain Hook. I think it was the ringlets…yes the ringlets were what pushed me over the edge.

-Though I was extremely proud of all of our "get-ups", Napoleon and Deb were indeed the rightful winners of that costume contest. Glad you guys won, you owned that contest!

Just an update:)

This post will be random tidbits. Absolutely no central theme whatsoever so don't look for one. First of all, October is killing me! We are so busy this month I swear. Jason is SO busy at work and it doesn’t look like it will chill out a little until the month is over. Lucia will be 3 months old this week. I can’t believe it. I can’t believe she even exists. I won’t believe it her whole life. There will not ever be another person in the universe like her, nor has there ever been. And we created her! Well, her little body at least. I look at pictures or we talk about memories and stuff from before she was born and it weirds me out so much. I’ll say to Jason, “Lucy was not on the earth when this or that happened…” Bizarre. Then I have to sort of sit silently with a blank stare and space out for a while. Too deep for words this parenting business.

She had her first airplane trip this week, to lovely San Fransisco. We went out to see Nessa, Sam and Leah and she was an absolute angel the entire flight, there and back.

It was great to be out there. It was quite a spectacle though when Ness and I ventured out for the day with the babes… 40 minutes trying to situate everything in the car, 2 strollers, 2 car seats, 2 mamas all stuffed into one little sedan. We ended up stuffing everything in, but the process was a real zoo. Leah is 100% Michelin!! Look at that face! So cute. I can’t even tell you. I keep thinking the babies are so different just because of age but I’m realizing that is not the case. Vanessa let me in on her little secret. She munches about a pound of whale blubber every day to get her milk extra creamy. She’ll be mad at me for sharing that with you, but people gotta know how she does it. Share the wealth sister!

So today I threw Lu in the sling (she loves and adores the sling) and cranked some music and started cleaning up my house. Suddenly a particular beat came on and I could not help myself. (Download “Ojos asi” by Shakira and you will see what I’m saying. There is no sitting still with this jam). Now I’ve been known to cut a little rug. So there we were, all by ourselves… shimmying and grooving all over the place, when a very unfortunate occurrence took place. I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror…bumpin and grinding…bouncing that baby all over the place. I immediately had to shut all the blinds and hang blankets over every mirror in the house. I was horrified. Nonetheless, I can’t convince myself that just because I’m a mom I’m automatically kicked out of the club. I’m allowed to still dance! I won’t stop dancing!! Madonna pulls it off, doesn’t she? I took comfort in the fact that it actually looked slightly better than it did when I was pregnant… there was just something very wrong about gyrating my 9 month pregnant belly.

Anyway, all is well. We've been taking lots of random pics so here are a few of the little lass and a photo shoot we had together. I particularly love the one that I am straight faced, because it looks like she is trying to punch my lights out. Oh and PS doesn't the autumn make you swoon?? It's my favorite. Thank you Heavenly Father for such brilliance! Check out the back yard! I'm in heaven.

My daughter the singing frog...

So, I’ve had an epiphany. I finally figured out who my little baby girl is reminding me of. Lucia is becoming one of the most smiley and cooey babies. She has found her voice! And it is quite possibly the cutest thing ON EARTH. She is eleven weeks old today, and if you are wondering how long I will count her age in weeks, don’t ask me because I just can’t answer that for you. She smiles for me and for Jason all day, and she is particularly excited in the morning, nose scrunches way up…arms and legs flailing every which way. However, I have realized something. She likes to make a fool of her mother. On several occasions, I tell my girlfriends or family members… “You’ve gotta see Lucy’s smile, it is the best! She’s really getting bubbly!” Then, without fail, she has it down to an art… she is blank-stare baby when people (with great anticipation) tune into her. No expression at all. She just shuts right on down. I do the exact same tricks I do for her when we are alone that make her reel with enthusiasm. I do the tricks when we are with anyone else… and I make a fool of myself! She apparently is NOT amused. Then the person turns around, thinking, "Gosh what an unhappy baby and horrible mother..." I lean down real close to her and ask, “you think that’s funny?” and BOOM! Back in business folks, the smile practically explodes back onto her face.

Anyway, you remember this old Warner Brothers cartoon, right? With the frog who sings and dances only for the one guy? And he ends up being admitted to a mental institution because of it? Hilarious. Man cartoons used to be funny, didn't they?!?

Here are a few shots that some of you have seen...she is quite divine on the Sabbath!
